Michael Diamond serves on distinguished industry panel at CBIA event

NAPLES, Fla. (June 17, 2016) – Michael Diamond, President of Diamond Custom Homes, addressed 170 members of the Collier Building Industry Association (CBIA) last month at the Hilton Naples. Speaking as a builder on the distinguished broker-builder panel, Diamond acknowledged the slight softening of the market, but added demand for new homes remained strong.

Diamond acknowledged the upper end of the market is not necessarily experiencing the same market conditions. Diamond’s typical customer profile is the retired CEO looking to build or buy a second home in communities where amenities are a front and center. “They are looking for a second home, of equal quality to their northern residence, with room to accommodate their children and grandchildren,” Diamond said.

Diamond noted buyers on the upper end of the market are opting for more relaxed living spaces with an air of casual sophistication.

“We’re building great-room floor plans almost exclusively,” he said. “The formal living room and dining room is a thing of the past, as are the traditional study’s with built in libraries. People are now conducting business on their lanais on their laptops. Everything is cleaner and simpler.”
